Dawk li jixtiequ jordanaw il-bukkett tal-fjuri għal quddiem Santa Marija għandhom ikellmu lill-Kappillan jew lil Marija Micallef.
Bukketti li ma jinxfux: Min jixtieq jagħmel l-offerta tiegħu fil-festa, bukkett li ma jinxifx, din is-sena ser imorru biex inħallsu s-sistema ġdida tas-Sound tal-Knisja u sistema ta’ sound portable. It-tir huwa li niġbru €15,895. Min jixtieq jikkontribwixxi għandu javviċina lill-Kappillan. Kull għotja hija ferm apprezzata.

PARISH NOTICES:
Tomorrow/Today, Sunday, August 16:
At 7.00pm, Mass will be celebrated in the Parish Church parvis for all families, especially couples who got married this year and those celebrating their 25th or 50th wedding anniversary. During the Mass, couples will renew their marriage vows. After Mass, the prayer of the Quinze will be recited, followed by Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. The celebrant will be Mons. Carmelo Refalo, Rector of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Ta’ Pinu. Everyone is invited. The 5.00pm Mass will not take place.
Monday, August 17 – Tenth Day of the Quinze, Children’s Day
At 6.30pm, a festive procession for children will leave from the Immaculate Heart of Mary Oratory and proceed through Triq Santa Marija, Triq Fisher and Misraħ l-Assunta. The Mġarr Philharmonic Society “Marija Mtellgħa s-Sema” will take part.
At 7.30pm, Mass for children will be celebrated by Fr Sergio Fenech. After Mass, there will be games for the children on the Parish Church parvis. The Parish Children’s Choir will provide the music.
Tuesday, August 18 – Eleventh Day of the Quinze, Vestition of the New Altar Servers
At 7.00pm, Mass will be celebrated by Fr Jean Claude Schembri, Director of the National Association of Altar Servers. All altar servers and their families are invited. After the homily, the vestition of the new altar servers will take place. After Mass, the prayer of the Quinze will be recited, followed by Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
Wednesday, August 19:
At 8.00am, the Parish Church will be cleaned. We appeal for your help.
First Day of the Triduum – Pastoral Workers and Civil Associations Day:
At 6.30pm, the Rosary and Chaplet will be prayed. At 7.00pm, Mass will be celebrated by Fr Jimmy Bonnici. The Triduum sermon will be preached by Fr Aaron Zahra O.P. After Mass, the Salve Regina and the Antiphon will be sung, followed by Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. All those involved in pastoral work and civil associations are especially invited.
Thursday, August 20 – Second Day of the Triduum:
The programme will be the same as the previous day, with Mons. Edgar Vella presiding. Mġarr emigrants and all foreigners living among us are especially invited.
On the same day, the Parish Fundraising Group is organising the Feast Dinner on the Parish Church parvis in aid of the expenses of the feast. We encourage you to book your place and invite your relatives to attend.
Friday, August 21 – Third Day of the Triduum, dedicated to consecrated life and priests. The programme will be the same as the previous day, with Mons. Alfred Vella presiding.
At 8.30pm, a march by the Mġarr Philharmonic Society “Marija Mtellgħa s-Sema” will take place, accompanied by the statue of Our Lady of the Assumption belonging to the same Society. At the end of the march, there will be a spectacular display of fireworks, lights, music and singing. There will be no Mass at Żebbiegħ on this day.
Holy Communion will be brought to the sick of the third group in the morning.
Saturday, August 22 – Feast Eve:
At 9.30am, a Thanksgiving Mass to God will be celebrated with the singing of the Te Deum, with the special participation of the sick and elderly of our Parish and those residing in elderly care homes. During the Mass, the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick will be administered. The celebrant will be Fr Noel Vassallo.
At 6.00pm, the Solemn Translation of the Relic will take place from the Chapel of the Franciscan Sisters, led by Mons. Salvinu Micallef, with the participation of the confraternity members. The procession will pass through Triq Dun Edgar and Triq il-Kbira before returning to the Parish Church.
At 7.00pm, Solemn Mass will be celebrated, followed by Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
At 8.45pm, a vocal and instrumental programme will be held on the Parish Church parvis, organised by the Mġarr Philharmonic Society “Marija Mtellgħa s-Sema”. At 10.15pm, the band programme will conclude and a display of coloured aerial fireworks will take place. At 11.00pm, the synchronised music-and-fireworks spectacle “Flames of Glory 2026” will begin. At 11.20pm, ground fireworks will be held beside the Church by the “Marija Assunta” Fireworks Society.
Sunday, August 23 – Feast Day
At 5.30am and 7.00am, Masses will be celebrated. At 7.30am, Mass will be celebrated at Żebbiegħ; there will be no 11.30am Mass.
At 9.00am, the Solemn Pontifical Mass of the Feast will be presided over by His Excellency Mons. Sandro Overend Rigillo OFM, Bishop of Benghazi. The panegyric will be preached by Mons. Joseph Sultana.
At 11.00am, Mass will be celebrated.
At 12.00pm, the Angelus will be prayed beside the statue of Our Lady of the Assumption near the Church, followed by the collection towards the carrying of the titular statue.
At 5.30pm, Mass will be celebrated, during which the Second Vespers of the Feast will be prayed.
At 7.00pm, the procession with the statue of Our Lady of the Assumption will begin. We encourage everyone to gather together for the praying of the Rosary, which will begin at the start of Triq il-Kbira. At the Oratory, the Parish Children’s Choir will take part. At 10.00pm, we will welcome the statue of Our Lady of the Assumption onto the parvis. At 10.30pm, the statue will enter the Church and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament will be given.
Feast Offering Envelopes:
The envelopes for the needs of the feast are being distributed. Those who wish to contribute are kindly asked to bring their envelope to the Church, as the envelopes will not be collected door to door. We encourage the distributors to collect and distribute their copies.
Those who wish to sponsor the flower bouquet placed in front of Our Lady of the Assumption are asked to contact the Parish Priest or Marija Micallef.
Everlasting Flower Bouquets:
Those who wish to make their feast offering through an everlasting flower bouquet, this year the proceeds will go towards paying for the new Church sound system and a portable sound system. Our target is to raise €15,895. Those wishing to contribute are kindly asked to contact the Parish Priest. Every donation is greatly appreciated.
The Parish Office will be closed between August 14 and August 26.
During this week, we bade our final farewell to Mario Bezzina.
